Lightning to host Toys For Tots drive for the holidays

by Staff Writer / Tampa Bay Lightning

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning as well as the Ladies of the Lightning, the players’ wives and girlfriends, will host a Toys for Tots drive prior to the team’s games on December 12 against the New Jersey Devils and December 15 versus the Calgary Flames. Fans who bring new, unwrapped toys will be rewarded with a complementary ticket to one of three select Bolts games. The Ladies of the Lightning will be on the west plaza before each game to receive donations.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

Fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy will receive a free ticket to either the January 10 game against the Vancouver Canucks, the January 12 game versus the Carolina Hurricanes or the January 24 contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets. There is a limit of four tickets per person and it is subject to availability.

Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an IRS recognized 501(C)(3) not-for-profit public charity is the fund raising, funding and support organization for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation was created at the behest of the U.S. Marine Corps and provides support in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve, who directs the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation has supported Toys for Tots since 1991.
