Lightning to Host Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Man & Woman of the Year 2009 Reception

by Staff Writer / Tampa Bay Lightning

TAMPA BAY
– The Tampa Bay Lightning will host a reception in honor of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year 2009 campaign on Tuesday, April 7 when the Lightning take on the Pittsburgh Penguins at 7:30 p.m.  A portion of the proceeds will go directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

There are two separate packages that include a ticket and entry into the reception.  The benefactor package includes the pre-game reception and a lower-level ticket (regularly $101.75) for $60 while the Sponsor Package includes the reception as well as a terrace-level corner seat (regularly $46.75) for $20.  The pre-game reception features light snacks and beverages from 6-8 p.m. and a meet and greet with former Lightning Captain Dave Andreychuk.  There will also be a silent auction by Signature Authentics and a chance drawing for great prizes.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has invested more than $600 million in research funding.

The Suncoast Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is located in Tampa. The Suncoast Chapter area includes the nine Florida counties of Citrus, Desoto, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Sarasota. We have a full time Patient Services Manager on staff to assist patients and families battling these diseases.

The Man & Woman of the Year event has been one of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s signature events since 1990.  Candidates competing for the title of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Man & Woman of the Year are judged solely on a philanthropic basis – on their success in generating funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Candidates raise these funds in honor of the Boy and Girl of the Year, local children who have been diagnosed with a blood cancer. The male and female candidates who raise the most funds after the 10-week campaign are crowned The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2009 Man & Woman of the Year.
