The Tampa Bay Lightning have designated the final home game of the 2010-11 regular season on Friday, April 8 against the Florida Panthers as the centerpiece of Fan Appreciation Night, which serves as a celebration which recognizes the dedication and loyalty of the organization’s fans as well as the Tampa Bay community.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to the game to enjoy a number of pregame activities on the west plaza. Professional Bull Rider and former world champion J.B. Mauney will sign autographs for fans and there will also be live music, performers, face painters, kids’ games and more. Several lucky fans will also be treated to on-the-spot seat upgrades, free merchandise and complimentary dinner in one of the restaurants located within the arena.
Mauney will kick off the action by leading fans in the traditional call of ‘Let’s Play Hockey’ prior to puck drop at 7:30 p.m. Fans may sign up on the plaza before the game to have a chance of being selected to participate in a number of rinkside activities such as pressing the goal horn when the Lightning score, making an announcement with in-arena public address announcer Paul Porter, sitting in the penalty box during the team’s pregame warmups and riding the Fan Zam alongside the Bolt Brigade. There will also be opportunities to join radio play-by-play announcer Dave Mishkin and Lightning legend Phil Esposito in the radio booth, as well as a chance to sit in the press box and observe the game among members of the media.
Up until the conclusion of the first intermission, fans may enter into the ‘Jerseys Off Our Backs’ contest behind sections 101, 120, 229 and 322 to go home with a game-worn sweater of a Bolts player. In addition, there will be a 60 percent discount on all merchandise featuring the team’s previous logo, while gear with the new logo will be available at 35 percent off the original price.
