Lightning to Conduct Food Drives for Metropolitan Ministries During Games

– The Tampa Bay Lightning and the St. Pete Times Forum will conduct a food drive benefiting Metropolitan Ministries for the holiday season on the Chrysler-Jeep Plaza at the St. Pete Times Forum before two upcoming Lightning home games.  Wives of Tampa Bay Lightning players will be on the plaza assisting with food and cash collections.

Donations of nonperishable and canned foods can be made on the Chrysler-Jeep Plaza prior to Lightning games on Thursday, November 13  vs. the Detroit Red Wings (7:30 p.m., Sun Sports, AM 620 WDAE) and on Friday, November 21 vs. the Nashville Predators (7:30 p.m., Sun Sports, AM 620 WDAE).

Following is a list of acceptable items for collection:
Boxes of cereal (hot and cold)
Packages of cookies or pastries
Cans of cranberry sauce
Boxes of dessert mix (non-perishable, pie, cake, etc.)
Bags or boxes of dry beans
Cans of fruit
Packages or cans of gravy
Boxes of Jell-O or pudding
Cans or boxes of potatoes
Bags or boxes of rice
Bags or boxes of stuffing mix
Cans of vegetables
Cans of yams
Cans of pumpkin pie mix

Fans who would like to donate financially to provide an Everyday Box of Hope, their donation of $35 will provide a box of food to feed a family of four for two days.  Metropolitan Ministries provides emergency food boxes for 100-150 families per day all year long.

Donations made to Metropolitan Ministries will be distributed to less-fortunate families to provide them with a better holiday season.
