Lightning Sign Unrestricted Free Agent Scott Jackson

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed free agent defenseman Scott Jackson to a three-year, entry-level contract, Lightning owners Oren Koules and Len Barrie announced today.

Jackson, a 6-foot-4, 213-pound native of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, played in 58 games with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League last season.  He scored six goals and recorded 23 points with one power-play goal.  He ranked second on the team in plus/minus rating with a plus-25.  His 23 points and six goals also ranked third on the team among defensemen.

The 21-year-old played the past six seasons with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL. In 326 games with Seattle, the 21-year-old scored 23 goals and recorded 119 points with 209 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 42 career WHL playoff games, recording four goals, 17 points and 33 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the second round, 37th overall, at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
