The Tampa Bay Lightning will hold a viewing party for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft at Champps Americana Sports Bar at International Plaza from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, June 22. This year’s NHL Draft is being held at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the Lightning currently hold the 10th and 19th overall selections in the first round.
Lightning Radio will broadcast a special edition of its show, Lightning Hockey Night, with all the action of the draft at Champps on AM 1250 WHNZ, as well as web streaming available on both whnz.com and 620wdae.com from 7-10 p.m. featuring hosts Rick Peckham and Bobby “the Chief” Taylor. Former Lightning greats Dave Andreychuk and Chris Dingman will also be featured as special guests throughout the night on the radio show and will interact with fans during the event. Lightning management and draft selections will also participate with live call-ins, giving fans behind-the-scenes access to this year’s NHL Draft. Additionally, WDAE AM 620’s Steve Duemig will broadcast his afternoon radio show live from Pittsburgh between 3-6:30 p.m.
One lucky fan will have the chance to win a Tampa Bay jersey of the Lightning’s first draft choice, while everyone in attendance will receive a free Lightning Yearbook and the chance to win other great prizes. Also, fans at the party will be eligible for drink specials at Champps throughout the night. ThunderBug, as well as the Lightning girls, will be at the event mingling with fans. The Lightning will also be unveiling their 20th anniversary logo at the event and fans will be able to win free 20th anniversary merchandise throughout the night.
