The Tampa Bay Lightning will host 30 players for their 2012 Development Camp the team announced today. Of those 30, there are 15 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goaltenders. The on-ice portion of the camp will run Tuesday, July 3 through Saturday, July 7 at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum. On-ice times will be announced at a later date.
The camp will feature some of the Lightning’s top prospects, including first and second round draft picks from both this and last summer’s drafts. That includes the Lightning’s first two picks from the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, defenseman Slater Koekkoek and goaltender Andrey Vasilevskiy, as well as forwards Vladislav Namestnikov (1st Rd) and Nikita Kucherov (2nd Rd) from the 2011 draft. Also scheduled to attend will be J.T. Brown, who played five games with the Lightning in 2011-12. He is the only attendee with NHL experience.
Of those players attending the camp, there are nine invitees, five players signed as free agents and 16 draftees. The drafted players feature seven from this summer’s draft, five from 2011, two from 2010, one from 2009 and one from 2008.
