The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled right wing Mark Parrish from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League today, Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced.  Goaltender Jaroslav Janus was also reassigned to the Admirals.

Parrish, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound forward from Bloomington, Minnesota, has played in one game with the Lightning this season February 14 at the New York Rangers.  He logged 13:53 in ice time and landed four hits with one blocked shot.  Parrish has played in 51 games with the Admirals this season, totaling 15 goals and 35 points. Parrish ranks second on the team in points and fourth in goals.

A veteran of ten National Hockey League seasons, Parrish has appeared in 705 career NHL games with the Lightning, Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars, recording 216 goals and 169 assists in those games. Parrish, who appeared in the 2002 NHL All-Star Game, was originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the third round, 79th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. He is a six-time 20-goal scorer and reached the 30-goal plateau once.

Janus, 5-foot-11, 192 pounds, was recalled on February 24 to practice with the Lightning while Antero Niittymaki participated in the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.  He has played in 12 games with Norfolk this season, posting a 6-6-0 record, a 2.09 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage with one shutout.  He leads all Admirals goaltenders in goals-against average and save percentage.  Janus made his professional debut with Norfolk on October 14 at Albany, stopping 27 of 29 shots.

The native of Presov, Slovakia was signed to a Professional Tryout Contract on October 2 and began the season with the Admirals.  He was released from the PTO on November 4 and joined his junior club, the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. Janus appeared in 13 games with the Otters this season posting a 7-4-2 record with a 2.81 goals-against average and .918 save percentage. The Lightning signed Janus to an entry-level contract on January 1 and he was assigned to the Admirals.
