Lightning recall C Paul Szczechura from Norfolk of the AHL

The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled center Paul Szczechura from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League today, Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced.

Szczechura, 5-foot-10, 184 pounds, has played in 37 games with the Lightning this season, recording two goals and three points. He has also played in 30 games with the Admirals this season.  Szczechura has recorded seven goals and 26 points with Norfolk and is tied for the team lead among forwards with a plus-4 rating. 

A native of Brantford, Ontario, Szczechura has played in 68 career NHL games, all with Tampa Bay, recording six goals and 12 points with 106 shots on goal.  He made his NHL debut with the Lightning last season, playing in 31 games and recording four goals with nine points.  He ranked second among Tampa Bay rookies in goals, assists and points. 

Szczechura has played in 130 career AHL games with Norfolk and the Iowa Stars.  He has amassed 39 goals and 93 points.

Originally undrafted, the Lightning signed Szczechura as a free agent on April 24, 2008.
