Lightning Reassign Szczechura to Norfolk for conditioning

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have reassigned center Paul Szczechura to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League for conditioning today, Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced.

Szczechura, 5-foot-10, 184 pounds, has played in 69 career NHL games, recording six goals and 12 points. He has played in a career high 37 games this season, recording two goals and three points.

A native of Brantford, Ontario, Szczechura made his NHL debut with the Lightning last season, playing in 31 games and recording four goals with nine points. He ranked second among Tampa Bay rookies in goals, assists and points. He also played in 33 games with Norfolk in 2008-09, recording 13 goals and 29 points.

Szczechura has played in 114 career AHL games with Norfolk and Iowa. He has amassed 38 goals and 81 points.

Originally undrafted, the Lightning signed Szczechura as a free agent on April 24, 2008.
