TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have reassigned defenseman Luke Witkowski to the Syracuse Crunch today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.
Witkowski, 25, has played in 53 games with the Crunch this season, posting one goal and 11 points to go along with 96 penalty minutes. He ranks third among Crunch defensemen for assists with 10. Witkowski’s 96 penalty minutes rank second on the team and tied for 24th in the AHL. The 6-foot-2, 214-pound defenseman has appeared in 182 career AHL games, all with Syracuse over the past four seasons, posting five goals and 31 points.
The Holland, Michigan, native has skated in four games with the Lightning this season, recording four penalty minutes. Witkowski has appeared in 20 career NHL games, all with the Bolts over the past two seasons, registering 20 penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut last season on January 20 against the Vancouver Canucks.
Witkowski was drafted by Tampa Bay in the sixth round, 160th overall, of the 2008 NHL Draft.
