The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed LW Radek Smolenak to a one-year contact today, Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced.
Smolenak, 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, made his NHL debut with the Lightning last season, playing in six games. He recorded one assist and 10 penalty minutes in that time. Smolenak played in 71 games with the Norfolk Admirals, recording 24 goals and 49 points. He ranked third on the Admirals in goals and was fifth in points.
A native of Prague, Czech Republic, Smolenak has appeared in 147 career AHL games with Norfolk and the Springfield Falcons. He has amassed 39 goals and 76 points in his AHL career.
Smolenak was selected by the Lightning in the third round, 73rd overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
