Lightning Radio Network Welcomes New Orlando Affiliate

The Lightning Radio Network announced today that it has expanded its reach through a partnership with 740 the Game, WYGM-AM in Orlando, Florida, which will make regular season Lightning games available for fans throughout central Florida. The affiliation also includes additional promotional support from other Clear Channel Orlando radio stations.

In order to provide fans in central Florida with all the excitement of Lightning hockey, the station will air its first broadcast immediately, beginning tonight as the team takes on the Anaheim Ducks at 10 p.m. A pregame report 30 minutes prior to puck drop will kick off the action at 9:30. In total, WYGM will air 30 games, primarily on weekends, throughout the season.

 Listeners will have a chance to win tickets to upcoming Lightning games through on-air giveaways, purchase discount tickets at and will be treated to a weekly appearance by Lightning founder and radio color analyst Phil Esposito every Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. on “The Shot Doctor” program, which airs Monday through Friday from 3 to 6.

“We are very excited about being central Florida’s new radio home for the Tampa Bay Lightning,” Clear Channel Orlando General Sales Manager Mark McCauley said. “The Lightning has a great team on the ice and a great team in the broadcast booth, which will make for terrific listening for our audience.”

“We’re thrilled to have 740 the Game as a member of the Lightning Radio Network, and Clear Channel Orlando as a partner with the Tampa Bay Lightning,” Lightning Manager of Radio Programming Matt Sammon added. “Not only can we bring Lightning hockey to all of central Florida via 740 the Game’s 50,000-watt signal, but with the promotional support of Clear Channel, hockey fans in Orlando can go “All In” with the Lightning this season.”

The Lightning Radio Network broadcasts on 10 stations statewide in markets with a total population of 6.9 million residents, and worldwide at Automated broadcasts are made possible on the Lightning Radio Network with the assistance of the Skyview Satellite Network, a broadcast partner of the Lightning since 2006.
