The Tampa Bay Lightning players at the Traverse City Prospect Tournament fell in overtime, 3-2, to the New York Rangers on Friday night.
The Lightning battled back from a 2-0 deficit in the third to tie the game. New York extended their lead to two at 12:43 of the third but Zbynek Hrdel pulled the Lightning to within one with less than three minutes remaining. It appeared Tampa Bay would not be able to finish the come back, but with five seconds remaining Justin Keller scored his first goal of the tournament to tie the game.
After the first overtime failed to decide the game, the Rangers found a way to beat 2006 first round pick Riku Helenius
with 56 seconds remaining in the game. Helenius finished the game with 33 saves on 35 shots in his first appearance with Tampa Bay.
Vladimir Mihalik, Radek Solenak and Blair Jones all recorded assists for the Lightning. Smolenak and Mihalik also led Tampa Bay in shots with four each.
