Lightning Prospect Performer of the Week

Richard Panik, the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 52nd selection of the 2009 NHL Draft, is the Lightning Prospect Performer of the Week for the period ending November 26.

Richard Panik extended his scoring streak to 10 games this week with two goals and two assists during the Crunch’s three-game set this past weekend along with a plus-3 rating.

During his 10-game point streak, Panik has accumulated seven goals and six assists to bring his season point total to 16 which moves him into a three-way tie for third on the team with Brett Connolly and Ondrej Palat. He sits alone in third place among Crunch skaters with eight goals behind Tyler Johnson and Cory Conacher.

Panik will look to continue his scoring streak this coming weekend as the Crunch take on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the Connecticut Whale and the Binghamton Senators in another back-to-back-to-back set.

Panik and the Crunch have not faced the Whale this season and in two games against the Penguins, Panik was held scoreless. However, against the Senators, Panik has collected two goals and two assists in two games this season.

Honorable Mentions

Tyler Johnson – Syracuse – AHL – Johnson has been on fire as of late and this past weekend was no different. Johnson collected points in all three games over the weekend including two multi-point games against the Albany Devils and Worcester Sharks and a plus-4 rating. In all, Johnson collected three goals and two assists during the three-game weekend raising his season point-total to 20 points, good enough for a tie for fourth among AHL skaters. Johnson’s 13 goals leads all of the AHL as well.

Alex Hutchings (Forward) – Florida – ECHL – Hutchings had a great week for the Florida Everblades, registering three goals and an during over three games this past week. Hutchings registered two goals in the Everblades 7-4 win on Wednesday over the Colorado Eagles and a goal and an assist in a 6-5 shootout loss to the Eagles on Friday. Hutchings is scoring at a point-per-game pace this season with 17 points, third among Everblades skaters, in 17 games.

Nikita Kucherov (Forward) – Rouyn-Noranda – QMJHL – After being traded to Rouyn-Noranda from Quebec this past week, Kucherov has fit his new sweater nicely through two games. Kucherov has picked up two goals and two assists in his first two appearances with Rouyn-Noranda and checked in with a plus-4 rating. With the four points Kucherov accumulated this week, he now has collected 14 points on the season through just eight games.
