Lightning Players, Employees to Volunteer at Metropolitan Ministries' Holidays of Hope Tent

by Staff Writer / Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning are partnering with Metropolitan Ministries twice this week to work in the Holidays of Hope tent, which offers struggling Bay area families the opportunity of a needed respite and the prospect for a better Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

Lightning players Nate Thompson, Matt Carle and Eric Brewer will be on hand today from 2-3 p.m. along with other Lightning employees to accept community donations in the drive-thru of the Tampa Holiday Tent. Metropolitan Ministries will be on Ford Thunder Alley prior to Wednesday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers to accept donations of non-perishable food items. For every 10 food items donated, the donor will receive a ticket voucher for a select upcoming Lightning game.

Metropolitan Ministries, a faith-based and community supported non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is funded through the charitable support of the community, including individuals, businesses, congregations, schools, foundations and civic groups, serving the needs of poor and homeless families in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Polk Counties.
