Lightning, Music Showcase Partner to Host Anthem Singer Search

by Staff Writer / Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning, in conjunction with Music Showcase, announced today the National Anthem audition process to join the Lightning’s roster of performers for the 2010-11 regular season.

Submissions are preferred to be sent electronically through email to kyeloushan@sptimesforum.com and will be accepted in either MP3 or WAV formats. Candidates may also send a CD or DVD demo of their recording to the St. Pete Times Forum (401Channelside Dr., Tampa, FL 33602).  The deadline for all submissions is no later than 5 p.m. on September 24.  Packages should be clearly labeled as “Anthem Demo” and should include the performer’s name, age, phone number and email address.  Contact information of a parent or legal guardian is required for all entries of applicants under the age of 18.

Each singer’s demo recording is required to include a rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, while a performance of O’ Canada is optional.  All performances, either as individual or a group, must be no longer than 90 seconds in length, preferably a capella and may not include audio enhancements such as echo, reverb, or voice attenuation.

All submissions will be voted upon, with 25 semi-finalists selected in the first round of judging.
Those moving on to the second round will then be contacted on September 24 and invited to perform a LIVE anthem audition at the St. Pete Times Forum on September 30, beginning promptly at 6 p.m. and open to the media.  Following the live auditions, 10 finalists will then be selected from the pool of semi-finalists to join the Lightning’s anthem roster for the 2010-11 season.  The lucky winners will be announced on October 1 on tampabaylightning.com.
