The Tampa Bay Lightning are partnering with the United States Marine Corps Reserve and PODS twice this week on Ford Thunder Alley at AMALIE Arena to host drives for the Toys for Tots program prior to Bolts home games on Thursday, December 10 versus the Ottawa Senators and on Saturday, December 12 against the Washington Capitals. This collection will give fans the opportunity to share in the season of giving with the Lightning and bring smiles to the faces of children who are less fortunate.
Along with members of the United States Marine Corps Reserve, the Lightning will be accepting donations of new toys on Ford Thunder Alley beginning at two hours before puck-drop through game time prior to both games this week. There will be a PODS container present and donation boxes will also be located on Ford Thunder Alley. Fans donating will receive a retail coupon to be used at Tampa Bay Sports for $5 off a one-time purchase of $25 or more/ $10 off a one-time purchase of $50 or more.
The Toys for Tots Foundation, a community supported non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, seeks to unite local communities across the United States for three months each year through the Toy for Tots program in collecting and distributing toys to less fortunate children during Christmas as a means to share a message of hope that will help contribute to better communities in the future.
PODS is the official moving and storage provider of the Tampa Bay Lightning. PODS moving and storage containers will be used to store donated toys at Toys for Tots collection points across the United States.
