Lightning Elect Not to Retain Claude Loiselle

The Tampa Bay Lightning have elected not to renew the contract of Assistant General Manager Claude Loiselle, Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced today. Loiselle's contract expired on July 31, 2009, but he remained with the Lightning, working on an at-will basis through September 30, 2009.

An Ottawa, Ontario native, Loiselle played 12 years in the National Hockey League with Detroit, New Jersey, Quebec, Toronto and the New York Islanders, retiring in 1994. Loiselle went on to earn his law degree from McGill University in Montreal in 1998, passing the New York State bar exam that summer. He worked for seven years at the National Hockey League as Associate Director of Hockey Operations, handling collective bargaining and operational issues. He joined the Lightning as Assistant General Manager in July of 2005. While with the Lightning, Loiselle also served as General Manager of the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League for the 2007-08 season.
