The Lightning took a 1-0 lead with their first power play goal of the tournament midway through the first period. Richard Panik entered the attacking zone with speed down the right wing. He feathered a backhand saucer pass across the slot to James Wright.  Wright re-directed the puck past the right leg of Stars goaltender Jack Campbell and into the net for his second goal of the tournament at 11:51.

The Tampa Bay lead doubled less than two minutes later. Wright emerged with the puck in the right corner and sent a quick pass toward the slot into a maze of skates. Marc-Olivier Vachon found the loose puck and chipped a shot over the right shoulder of Campbell at 13:20.

Vachon helped Tampa Bay stretch their lead to three goals midway through the second period. He caused a neutral zone turnover and entered the Dallas zone at the left point, speeding across the slot before spotting Carter Ashton at the bottom of the right circle. Ashton sent a quick shot past the left leg of Campbell at 8:33 for his first goal of the tournament.

Dallas spoiled Tokarski’s shutout bid with 14.7 seconds left in the third period as Jace Coyle netted a power play goal. Tokarski finished the evening with 35 saves.

The Lightning will be seeded second in the Howe Division entering tomorrow’s tournament finale. Tampa Bay will finish the Traverse City NHL Prospect Tournament tomorrow evening at 5:30 p.m. in the third place game. The opponent will be the second seed in the Gretzky Division (to be determined). Stay tuned to for the latest on tomorrow’s contest.
