TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning and WTOG-TV Channel 44 (CW44) in Tampa Bay are again joining forces to bring Lightning fans two exciting games in high definition this upcoming season. With the inclusion of the two CW44 Lightning broadcasts, 81 of the Lightning’s 82 games will be available in the Tampa Bay market on either local or national broadcasts.
CW44 will air two games during the season, with its first broadcast on February 23 versus the Carolina Hurricanes at 7 p.m. and then Tampa Bay’s season-finale on April 13 against the Washington Capitals at 7 p.m.
“We are very pleased to welcome back CW44 as our over-the-air partner for the 2012-13 season,” Lightning Chief Operating Officer Steve Griggs said. “CW44 continues to be a valuable partner in allowing us to expand our broadcast reach and allow our great fans to see more Lightning hockey in the Bay Area. We would like to thank them for their ongoing dedication to the Lightning and our fans.”
The broadcast team of play-by-play man Rick Peckham, color analyst Bobby “The Chief” Taylor, as well as rinkside reporter, Sun Sports’ Paul Kennedy, remains intact for both games on CW44.
“The Tampa Bay Lightning have been a tremendous partner to CW44 during the previous six years and we’re very pleased to be extending our relationship with them,” said Laura Caruso, vice president and general manager of CW44. “We understand the important role the Lightning play in the Tampa Bay community and we have an obligation to provide our viewers with programming that brings them closer to our local sports teams so this was a natural fit. Both the Lightning and CW44 are dedicated to providing the Tampa Bay community with quality sports entertainment and we are very excited to continue our partnership.”
