The Lightning Conference just completed its third week of the 2012-13 high school hockey season and two teams, Mitchell and Palm Harbor, sit alone at the top of the standings with 4-0 records.
Friday night’s action saw Wiregrass High School defeat Plant, 9-8, in a high scoring affair, while Mitchell continued their unbeaten season, handling Seminole, 12-1.
Steinbrenner, Berkeley, Seminole and Bloomingdale will all be looking for their first win next week when action resumes Friday, October 19th.
Palm Harbor’s Hunter Sheehan has been dominant through the first four games of the season, posting a sparkling 17 assists and 25 points, while Berkeley’s Alexander Fishman has continued his torrid scoring pace, recording 18 goals and 20 points through four games.
Mitchell netminder Joey Robinson has played in each of his team’s four games and has recorded a 2.50 goals-against average to go along with four victories, while Freedom goaltender Tommy Kilker has also had a steady start to the season, posting a 2.75 goals-against average and a 3-1 record.
Action resumes next Friday when every team is on the schedule. In a pivotal matchup, Palm Harbor (4-0) will try to remain unbeaten against an equally strong Freedom (3-1) team, while Steinbrenner (0-3) will be looking for their first win of the season when they take on a fast-starting Wharton (3-1) squad.
