TAMPA BAY -- The Tampa Bay Lightning and Chase celebrated their Street Lightning hockey program today by hosting approximately 200 students from local YMCA's to teach them hockey drills, both on and off the ice, at Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex.
Lightning alumni including Dave Andreychuk, Jassen Cullimore, Mathieu Garon, as well as Ruslan Fedotenko, and Chase executives, participated in the first event of the 2016-17 season.

Street Lightning provides students in the Tampa Bay area the opportunity to learn the basic elements of hockey, how to play the game, and help participants experience math and science concepts through the sport. Via the program, Chase and the Lightning will donate full sets of street hockey gear for students to play in their free time and during school hours. Participants also will be given workbooks with math and science concepts they can apply to their game experience.
The program launched at the West Tampa Boys & Girls Club on December 2, 2013.
At Friday's event, the Lightning and Chase continued their "Chase Your Dreams" Learn to Skate/Play Program which benefits approximately 30 students each year from a Street Lightning donation beneficiary.
Youth from the Buffalo Creek YMCA received this year's program which includes a complete set of ice hockey gear and 12-weeks of on-ice instruction at Xtra Ice from a Lightning alumnus free of charge, courtesy of Chase.
Students from local YMCAs attended the event today.
