The Tampa Bay Lightning will host community partner Metropolitan Ministries for a non-perishable food drive before their game on Saturday, November 14 against the Los Angeles Kings (7:30 p.m., Sun Sports, 620 WDAE). Metropolitan Ministries staff and volunteers as well as Lightning wives and girlfriends will be collecting non-perishable food items on the west plaza prior to the game. All fans contributing to the food drive will receive a voucher for a free ticket to an upcoming Lightning home game.
Metropolitan Ministries provides faithful answers for poor and homeless families living in our community through services that alleviate suffering, promote dignity and instill self-sufficiency as an expression of the ongoing ministry of Jesus Christ. The Ministries, a faith-based and community-supported non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, is funded through the charitable support of the community, including individuals, businesses, congregations, schools, foundations and civic groups.
The Ministry projects needs will increase by 23% this holiday season. Cereal, canned fruit and grocery gift cards are some of the most needed items at this time.
