TAMPA BAY - The Lightning High School Hockey League (LHSHL) today named Wiregrass goalie Carson Saunders the league's Moe's Southwest Grill Goalie of the Month for October.
Saunders played in four games during the month of October, posting a record of 3-1. The freshman started the month with his first career LHSHL shutout in a 7-0 win over Palm Harbor. Saunders continued his solid play throughout the month, sporting a save percentage of .890 to go along with a 2.75 goals against average. After moving to Florida from Chatham, Ontario, Saunders played AAA travel hockey for four seasons. Saunders now plays for the Jr. Lightning U16 AA travel team in Oldsmar and will be attending multiple prospect camps during the summer.
Saunders will receive a personal replica trophy to recognize his accomplishments, along with his name engraved on the permanent award to be awarded to the Moe's Southwest Grill Goalie of the Year.
