The Lightning pushed their winning streak to four games with a resilient 4-2 win over New York

It took a late winner from Tyler Johnson to lift the Lightning to a 4-2 win over the Islanders in a matchup of division leaders on Thursday.

Despite the result, things didn't start out great for the Lightning again.

The Islanders took the lead less than four minutes into the game with Josh Bailey turning and firing a puck past Andrei Vasilevskiy. New York had most of the chances in the first period, outshooting the Lightning 16-7 in the opening frame.

When play resumed in the second period, however, the Lighting looked settled in.

Mathieu Joseph scored his first regular season goal at Amalie Arena six minutes into the period to equalize. Joseph fired off a quick shot that beat Islanders goalie Robin Lehner to tie the game at one.

J.T. Miller then gave the Bolts the lead, scoring on a one-timer set up by Mikhail Sergachev and Steven Stamkos.

New York drew even midway through the third period on Josh Bailey's second goal of the game. Bailey capitalized on a loose puck in front of the Lightning net and wired a quick shot by Vasilevskiy.

Following New York's equalizer, the Lightning turned up the pressure and were rewarded on Johnson's goal with 1:26 remaining in regulation.

The sequence began with Yanni Gourde who blocked an Islanders clearing attempt. After keeping play in the Lightning's offensive zone, the puck found its way to Nikita Kucherov who fed Johnson in front of the net for the go-ahead tally.

Stamkos added an empty net goal with 10 seconds remaining to secure the win for the Lightning. After picking up an assist on Miller's goal, Stamkos now has back-to-back multi-point games.

Andrei Vasilevskiy had another strong night in goal making 35 saves on 35 shots.

Tampa Bay finishes up the homestand on Saturday night against Ottawa.
