Giving Good Effort, Creating Chances

by Lightning Insider / Tampa Bay Lightning

The Lightning returned to the home ice today in preparation for Thursday’s home opener against the New Jersey Devils.  In retrospect, Tampa Bay played much better than its 0-1-1 record on the season-opening road trip would indicate.  The Bolts generated plenty of scoring chances and, by the count of the coaching staff, out-chanced their opponents in each game.  Head Coach Rick Tocchet wasn’t disappointed with the effort last night.

“I’m a lot happier with it today than I was last night,” he said to the media today.  “I thought the guys worked hard.”

Tocchet also told the media today that the line-up will remain the same as Tuesday night.  That means Kurtis Foster will not be ready, so David Hale will dress on the blue line again.  Mike Smith, coming off a strong performance in Raleigh, will get his third consecutive start.

Don’t forget to pick up your tickets for tomorrow night.  They start as low as $15 so there is no reason not to come and watch the show!  Call 813.301.6600 now or log on to
