TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning, continuing its long-standing tradition of honoring those making local community contributions through the Community Heroes Program, presented by Jabil, honored Felicia Keisling as a Community Hero of Tomorrow. Keisling, who received a $50,000 donation from the Lightning Foundation and the Lightning Community Heroes program, will donate half of her award to Feeding Tampa Bay, while the other half will go towards a scholarship for her own education. The Community Hero award is proudly celebrated by Jabil, who is the sponsor of the Lightning Community Hero Program.

Keisling, a high school student homeschooled through the Holy Family Academy, was taught from an early age how important it is to give back to the community. She started volunteering in her neighborhood, then her church community, but her most rewarding volunteer experience has been with Feeding Tampa Bay. Felicia has found that hunger encompasses all ages, and she hopes to make young people aware of the needs that face our community.
Felicia's service initiative with Feeding Tampa Bay is a program called Changemakers. It is a year-long program for students where they can participate in monthly volunteer events, during which they will engage in sessions about financial literacy, non-profits and Feeding Tampa Bay. Changemakers is an innovative project that focuses on empowering children to make a difference in their community by using their voice and time to help others.
Keisling becomes the 408th Lightning Community Hero since Jeff and Penny Vinik introduced the Lightning Community Hero program in 2011-12 with a $10 million, five-season commitment to the Tampa Bay community. Through this presentation, in total, the Lightning Foundation has granted $20.85 million to more than 750 different nonprofits in the Greater Tampa Bay area. During the summer of 2016, the Vinik's announced that the community hero program will give away another $10 million over the next five seasons.
