TAMPA BAY - Tampa Bay Lightning fans attending AMALIE Arena for the team's home games beginning December 27, 2018 could be impacted from a traffic perspective from separate projects which began on December 17. Fans are encouraged to visit tampabaylightning.com/parking, to utilize the Waze Navigation and Live Traffic app. or perhaps, most easily, to plan on parking 2-3 blocks north of the arena when attending Lightning games through the end of the 2018-19 season.

Portions of Channelside Drive between S Jefferson Street and S Meridian Avenue and Old Water Street between S Franklin Street and S Florida Avenue closed for road and utility construction. A private contractor will reconstruct Channelside Drive between Old Water Street and S Meridian Avenue in three (3) phases. A City contractor will also install a sewer force main in Old Water Street between S Franklin Street and S Morgan Street in five (5) phases.
Channelside Drive Road Construction
As part of Phase 1 of the regrading of Channelside Drive between Old Water Street and S Meridian Avenue, the eastbound lanes on Channelside Drive between S Jefferson Street and S Meridian Avenue and one (1) westbound lane on Channelside Drive between S Meridian Avenue and S Nebraska Avenue closed on December 17, 2018.
One (1) westbound lane on Channelside Drive between S Meridian Avenue and S Nebraska Avenue will be maintained during construction of the south side of Channelside Drive, with delays.
The sidewalk on the north side of Channelside Drive between Old Water Street and S Meridian Avenue will remain closed during construction. Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area, during construction.
It is anticipated that this phase of construction work will be completed by 4 pm on Sunday, January 6, 2019, weather permitting.
Two (2) additional phases will follow upon completion of Phase 1 construction work.
The entire Channelside Drive road project is expected to be completed by Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
Old Water Street Sewer Force Main Construction
A portion of Old Water Street between S Franklin Street and S Florida Avenue closed on Monday, December 17, 2018, as part of Phase 1 of the Wastewater Capital Improvement project. A City contractor will be installing a 54" diameter sewer force main in 5 phases on Old Water Street between S Franklin Street and S Morgan Street.
The crosswalks on Old Water Street to the west and east of S Florida Avenue will be closed during construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other sidewalks in the area via signage.
It is anticipated that this phase of construction work will be completed by 4 pm on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, weather permitting.
Four (4) additional phases will follow upon completion of Phase 1 construction work. The following streets will have road closures.
Phase 2: Old Water Street at the intersection of S Florida Avenue
Phase 3: Old Water Street between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street
Phase 4: Old Water Street between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street
Phase 5: Old Water Street at the intersection of S Morgan Street
It is anticipated that these 5 phases of the Sewer Force Main Project will be completed on April 5, 2019, weather permitting. The entire Wastewater project is expected to be completed by fall 2020, weather permitting.
