Degrees of separation: Sharks vs. Lightning

by Michelle Gingras / Tampa Bay Lightning

The Lightning return home from their latest road trip with at least a point in each game as they look to collect two more tonight against the San Jose Sharks, a team they struggled against last season. Ben Bishop will lead the Bolts on to the ice tonight. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. and you can follow all of the action on Sun Sports and 970 WFLA beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Here are tonight's degrees of separation:

San Jose won both matchups last season against the Bolts, scoring five goals in each victory.

Bolts forward Ryan Callahan played alongside Sharks forward Joe Pavelski at both the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics as members of Team USA. The two won a silver medal together in 2010.

Lightning goaltender Evgeni Nabokov spent significant time with the Sharks organization. He was drafted by San Jose in the 1994 NHL entry draft and played more than 500 games as the Sharks goaltender.

Lightning forward Brenden Morrow won a gold medal with San Jose forwards Joe Thorton and Patrick Marleau on Team Canada at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

Lightning forward Valterri Filppula and Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi were both born in Vantaa, Finland.
