Day 7 World Championships Round Up

by Peter Pupello / Tampa Bay Lightning

In the only action on Sunday involving the Lightning players at the World Championships, Team USA blanked Finland 5-0 to advance to the next round.

Although the win allowed Team USA to pass Finland in the standings, the teams are still likely to meet again soon in the quarterfinal.

For the American side, Nate Thompson logged 11:35 of ice time and earned an even rating, but didn’t land on the score sheet. His Bolts teammate, JT Brown, did not appear in the contest.

Team USA will continue its quest for a medal on Tuesday against Switzerland, while Team Canada and Team Sweden will also return to action on Tuesday against Belarus and Latvia, respectively.

Fans can tune into the NBC Sports Network to see Team USA, while Team Canada’s games can be seen on TSN.
