Construction work continues on railroad tracks in downtown Tampa

by Staff Writer / Tampa Bay Lightning
Due to the construction project being completed to reconstruct the railroad tracks between Florida Avenue and Polk Street in Downtown Tampa, the Tampa Bay Times Forum is advising all guests to use alternate routes of transportation when leaving the arena until the conclusion of the project, estimated to be complete by Tuesday, April 3.

For the past several weeks, employees of the Tampa Bay Times Forum have been working diligently in conjunction with Hillsborough County, the City of Tampa and the arena’s own traffic engineer to develop the best possible transportation routes so that guests may leave the building in a manner that is both convenient and in compliance with the county’s regulations. The closure of Florida Avenue between Zack Street and Cass Street started on March 25 and should be completed early next week. The detour route will be to use Zack Street to Ashley Street or Zack Street to Morgan Street back to Florida Avenue.

The Lightning are inviting fans to stay past the conclusion of the game on Saturday for post-game festivities. To help relieve some of the traffic stress, the club is offering a chance for kids to come onto the ice after the game on Saturday to shoot pucks and to test their hockey skills on the Times Forum ice. As always, fans are welcome to the Bud Light Party Deck to enjoy food and drink specials after the Lightning game. The team’s post-game radio show will also broadcast live on AM 970 WFLA from Paradise Cove Brew Pub, behind section 106.

All guests traveling to the arena may direct any questions or concerns about this project to the Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Office at (813) 975-6060.
