The Lightning continue their four-game homestand tonight as they face Atlantic division rivals the Ottawa Senators. The Bolts won three-of-five against the Senators last season. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m. and you can follow all of the coverage on Sun Sports or Lightning Radio 970 WFLA beginning at 6:30 p.m. Here are tonight’s degrees of separation between the Bolts and the Senators:
•Both teams enter the 2014-15 season with different captains than when they started the 2013-2014 season. For the Bolts, Steven Stamkos and for the Senators Erik Karlsson. Both captains were born in 1990 and are only 24 years old.
•Tampa’s starting goaltender, Ben Bishop served as the backup goalie for Ottawa before he was traded to the Lightning for Cory Conacher during the 2012-13 season.
•Bolts forward Ryan Callahan and Sens forward Bobby Ryan played together for Team USA at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver where they won a silver medal.
•Both teams were part of the 1992-93 NHL expansion, with both enjoying moderate success in their 21 year existence. Tampa won the Stanley Cup in 2004, and Ottawa made it to the 2007 Stanley Cup Final, where it eventually lost to Anaheim.
