Crunch clinch second place entering final week
The Crunch locked up second place in the North Division in Week 27 by snagging three points in the team's final three-in-three weekend of the season. The Crunch (44-21-3-5) will host their North Division Semifinals series, but their opponent will be determined this week. No matter who the Crunch match up against, Game 1 will be in Syracuse April 20 and Game 2 will be April 21.
The Crunch began the week with a 4-3 shootout loss to the Binghamton Devils Friday night, but bounced back with a 1-0 shutout win over the Utica Comets Saturday. They closed the week with a 4-2 defeat at home against Binghamton Sunday.
The Crunch wrap up the regular season with their final three games in Week 28. They play Rochester twice and Utica once; one of those teams will also match up against the Crunch to begin the Calder Cup Playoffs.
Top Performers
Matthew Peca led Crunch scorers in Week 27 with a point in all three games, establishing a new career-high with 45 points (12g, 33a) in 62 games. He had assists in the first two games of the week, including the primary assist on Erik Condra's game-winner in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Comets, before adding his 12th goal of the season Sunday.
The 24-year-old collected his 100th career AHL assist in Saturday's game. His 33 assists and 45 points in 62 games both rank second on the team.

Goaltender Eddie Pasquale earned his first shutout as a member of the Crunch Saturday against Utica. The 27-year-old stopped all 26 shots against in Syracuse's 1-0 win, which was his 16th career shutout. Pasquale's other shutout this season came for Bakersfield in a 36-save performance against San Antonio Jan. 3.
Since debuting with the Crunch Feb. 2, Pasquale is 9-1-3 with a 1.79 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage. His only regulation loss with the Crunch came Feb. 17 when he allowed one goal in a 2-0 Crunch loss to Charlotte. Including his time with Bakersfield, Pasquale is 15-6-7 with a 2.24 goals-against average-fourth-best in the AHL-and a .921 save percentage.

Defenseman Cal Foote made his professional debut Friday in Binghamton and appeared in all three games for the Crunch last week. Foote, 19, wasted little time finding the scoresheet, netting his first career goal on his first career shot at 10:41 of the first period against the Devils.
Tampa Bay's 2017 first-round pick had a career-high 70 points (19g, 51a) for the Kelowna Rockets this season.
Crunch clinch home ice
The Crunch will have home-ice advantage in the North Division Semifinals for the second straight season. They are locked into a second place finish in the North Division and will face whichever team places third, either Rochester or Utica. The first round series will begin in Syracuse Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21.
Entering the final week of the regular season, the only two teams who would host a playoff series against the Crunch are Toronto and Lehigh Valley.

The Crunch prepare for the North Division Semifinals by facing Rochester and Utica in the final week of the regular season. One of those teams will be the Crunch's opponent in the opening round of the playoffs.
The Crunch and Amerks play Wednesday in Rochester and then conclude the regular season Saturday in Syracuse. Rochester (35-21-11-6) currently holds third place in the North Division, leading Utica by two points. Syracuse holds a 5-1-1-1 record against Rochester this season; the Crunch won five straight Oct. 28-March 10 before Rochester won, 5-4 in a shootout, March 11.
The Crunch make their final trip to Utica in the Galaxy Cup Series Friday night, wrapping up the 12-game season series with the Comets. Utica (37-25-7-4) is in fourth place in the North Division entering the final week of the season. The Crunch have won the last three meetings with the Comets, including consecutive shutouts in Syracuse March 24 (2-0) and April 7 (1-0).
