Tampa Bay Lightning Statement From Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster Regarding Dan Boyle:
“Dan Boyle will undergo surgery to repair the damaged tendons in his left wrist on Friday morning, November 9, 2007, at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD. The surgery will be performed by renowned hand specialist, Dr. Thomas J. Graham, Chief, Curtis National Hand Center and Vice-Chair, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Union Memorial Hospital.
“Dr. Graham is a consultant to a number of professional sports teams and has operated on more than 1,500 professional athletes, including a number of hockey players, during his career. He was recommended to the Lightning and Dan Boyle by Lightning team physician, Dr. Ira Guttentag and his colleague, Dr. Richard Gray, as well as by Dan’s agent, George Bazos.
“Lightning Head Medical Trainer, Tom Mulligan, has spoken with Dr. Graham at length and has been invited by Dr. Graham to observe the surgical procedure in person. He will also meet with Dr. Graham immediately following the surgery to co-ordinate Dan’s post-surgical plan of care and rehabilitation. The Club will not be releasing any information with regard to a ‘timeframe’ for Dan’s return to action and he will continue to be listed as being out indefinitely.
