Bishop lightning 51016

Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Ben Bishop said he will be ready for Team USA training camp in September prior to the World Cup of Hockey 2016.
Bishop has been recovering from a left leg injury he sustained May 13, in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
"It's going good," Bishop told ESPN.com in remarks published Friday. "The leg is feeling better and it's getting stronger every day. I'm getting ready to start skating soon ... and get back on the ice and doing that side of things. We have about a month until we go, so I'll start off slow and pick it up in the next month and be ready for training camp for the World Cup."

Team USA will train at Nationwide Arena in Columbus in early September and will play its first World Cup exhibition game there, against Team Canada, on Sept. 9. The eight-team tournament will be held at Air Canada Centre in Toronto from Sept 17 through Oct. 1.

"It's a great opportunity," Bishop said. "Obviously, it's not new, but it's a little bit newer with the World Cup coming back. … It's a whole different feel to it; it's not another NHL season, or the Olympics, it's a brand-new thing coming out again and I think everybody is excited. Everybody's going to be fresh, it's going to be good hockey and it's in a great market in Toronto. There are so many good things coming out of it and I'm excited to be a part of it."
Bishop, Jonathan Quick of the Los Angeles Kings and Cory Schneider of the New Jersey Devils will compete to start for Team USA.
"We obviously have a great roster," Bishop said. "When you look around, they did a pretty cool thing with Team Europe and Team North America, and that will add much more excitement to the tournament. Every team is going to be stacked and good and I don't think there's going to be any bad games out there, so it's going to be fun. It's going to be great for the fans. It's going to be exciting hockey. It's at the beginning of the year, so everybody's fresh and ready to go. It's going to be high-tempo and I'm just looking forward to being a part of it."
Bishop was 35-21-4 last season, led the NHL with a 2.06 goals-against average, and was second with a .926 save percentage. The 29-year-old was a finalist for the Vezina Trophy.
