Best of the Web: Week of July 27-August 3

Sorry For Party Rockin’ Looking Good?

Nothing says the NHL offseason quite like a round of golf with the boys.

But I’m not so sure that the fine chaps in this picture, however, are merely just enjoying themselves on the links or trying to sell me a Brooks Brothers franchise.

If you look closely, that is once you get past the incredibly tacky golf attire, you’ll find New York Rangers prospect Christian Thomas, who is the son of Lightning player development coordinator Steve Thomas, to the left, as well as Lightning forward Brett Connolly to the far right with fellow hockey prospects Matt Solomon and Rob DeFulviis wedged in between.

The photo was accompanied by this tweet from Thomas (@cpt27):

“Best dressed? #SorryForLookingGood”

Still awaiting confirmation from sources, but the guys may or may not have gone to shoot photos for the Fall 2012 Chubbies catalog immediately following 18 holes. The whole thing does, at least, reaffirm their affinity for short shorts that make one look like a member of the 1984 Boston Celtics, or a modern-day Sigma Chi at Ole Miss.

More Rad Than Plaid…

Speaking of fashion statements, one would be remiss to think that those of the younger generation are the only ones touting some hot threads these days.

Case in point, check out this picture of Teddy Purcell’s dad, which the Lightning forward himself posted on his official Twitter account earlier this week, accompanied by the following text:

From Teddy Purcell (@teddypurcell16):

“Always wanted my old man’s stash so I could sweep the streets like him, but really glad I didn’t want his style #Beaut.”

Oh come on, it’s not that bad, right?

In fact, Bolts winger Ryan Malone wore a similar outfit at the Lightning’s 2012 Glitz & Sticks, which actually proved to be wildly popular…

Unlike some others

I’m not sure whether Don Cherry pulled down his mother’s drapes for this one, or just looked inside of a kaleidoscope for inspiration, but definitely one of the two.

Dog Days Of Summer…

A friend of Nate Thompson’s tweeted this picture of her dog, obviously road tripping to an exciting destination judging by the look on its face, however she just posted the link with no accompanying Tweet, so I’m not quite clear on the details.

A couple things are for certain, though.

One, it’s a sweet pic of man’s best friend, and two, that dog looks like it’s straight up chillin’, as opposed to this guy.
