SEATTLE, Wash. - July 11, 2022 - Today, the Seattle Kraken (@SeattleKraken) announced that they have signed forward Karson Kuhlman to a one-year contract ($825,000 AAV).
"Karson is a versatile forward who can play up and down our lineup," said Kraken General Manager Ron Francis. "He's a hard-working player and we are glad that we re-signed him."

Kuhlman split the 2021-22 season between the Boston Bruins and Seattle Kraken, playing in 19 games for the Bruins before being claimed off of waivers by the Kraken on Jan. 17, 2022. He totaled 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 44 games during the 2021-22 campaign, eight of those points (two goals, six assists) coming in his 25 games with Seattle. The five-foot-10, 190-pound forward set career highs in assists, points and games played last season and matched his career best with three goals. Kuhlman finished the year with a 54.6 Corsi rating, the highest among Kraken skaters that played in at least 20 games.
The 26-year-old has totaled 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 100 NHL games over the course of five seasons (2018-19 to 2021-22) since signing with the Bruins as an undrafted free agent on April 18, 2018. Kuhlman has also appeared in 74 American Hockey League (AHL) games - all with the Providence Bruins - scoring 19 goals and adding 20 assists.
Prior to making his professional debut, Kuhlman played four seasons (2014-15 to 2017-18) of collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, notching 80 points (39 goals, 41 assists) in 166 games played. Serving as a captain his senior year, Kuhlman helped guide the Bulldogs to an NCAA National Championship, being named the tournament MVP and earning All-Tournament honors. The 2017-18 season also saw Kuhlman win the NCHC Sportsmanship Award and be named to the Lowes Senior Class All-American Second Team. Kuhlman finished his collegiate career ranked seventh all-time in the NCAA with 166 consecutive games played.
The Esko, Minnesota native has also represented the United States in international competition at the 2022 World Championship, where he totaled four points (two goals, two assists) in 10 games.
