Head coach Dave Hakstol and defensemen Carson Soucy and Will Borgen have already dropped the proverbial puck on embracing the holiday spirit by being among the first to donate toys ahead of next weekend's Kraken Toy Drive at Climate Pledge Arena. It's just the start of good cheer and good works this month sponsored by the team. Here's a look at the holiday happenings:

  • The aforementioned Kraken Toy Drive is slated for next weekend as part of home games against the Edmonton Oilers Saturday (Dec. 18) and Toronto Maple Leafs (Dec. 19). Fans can come down to the arena (whether attending the games or not) to help the team fill two buses with unwrapped toys.
The toy drive is in partnership with our partner Starbucks to support the ongoing and amazing work of local nonprofit Mary's Place, which will donate the toys to underserved youth and families. The drive starts Dec. 18 at 9 a.m. and donations will be accepted and loaded into the buses until 8 p.m. Sunday Dec. 19.

  • One of our taglines this year is "Holidays are better when you are part of a team." Along with welcoming all fans with open arms to feel connected to the Kraken, an important team in our organization is the One Roof Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Kraken and Climate Pledge Arena. You can contribute to the foundation's work toward youth homelessness, environmental justice and equal access to youth hockey by purchasing Kraken holiday ornaments (available at team stores), ordering a Kraken WA-state license plate or making a direct donation to
    the foundation
    .
+ Join in the holiday fun on ice at the Kraken Community Iceplex in the Northgate neighborhood (now conveniently reachable by Sound Transit light rail). Public skate sessions are ongoing all of December.
What's more, starting Dec. 19, "KCI" will have additional public skates with holiday décor. Be sure to sign up your friends and family today
    [here

] in advance. Weekend and holiday skates are popular. It's recommended to book online to reserve spots then arrive 15 to 30 minutes early on the day of your skate.

  • After you skate or watch a friend/family skate or play hockey, make sure to visit the 32 Bar and Grill for additional festive celebrations. Join us for a special public skate Dec. 28 in which a portion of proceeds will benefit local youth-serving organizations.
+ The Dec. 21 Kraken home game at Climate Pledge Arena will be a holiday-themed night. Seattle faces the Arizona Coyotes.
+ Probably goes without saying, but be sure to take care of the Kraken fans in your life. Our team stores are brimming with new items and some ugly holiday sweaters for the brave and good-humored among us. The Kraken have released their latest winter merchandise collection and there is something for everyone. Note to self: Better get over there to, ahem, look for a friend.
+ Tune in to Kraken games all month long and follow along on social media to see holiday messages from all your favorite Seattle Kraken personalities this festive time of year. Holiday wishes to all and Happy 2022!
