Driedger

Both Kraken goalies, Chris Driedger and Philipp Grubauer, will be playing for their national teams at the upcoming International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in Finland that runs from mid-May through May 29.

Grubauer talked about it Monday
, while Driedger revealed his early summer plans Tuesday. He will be joining Team Canada, which, as it turns out, faces Team Germany May 13 in its first game of the Group A round-robin tournament.
"I just got the call the other day," said Driedger, who was in goal last Friday for the first Kraken shutout at Climate Pledge Arena. "I'm real excited. It's an honor to be selected. I've never worn the maple leaf, representing my country."
Driedger figures to get plenty of time in net to build off what was a solid last two months of the season for the goaltender. Each team plays seven games in the preliminary round to determine the eight teams from the 16-squad tournament going to the quarterfinals. The schedule includes back-to-back games and fits those seven games into 13 days.
"I look forward to it," Driedger said before heading to the team's workout room at Kraken Community Iceplex while his goalie tandem partner Grubauer was on the ice in preparation for the Worlds. "There are a ton of games. I'm truly looking forward to it."
