Jones 2568x1444

For a week in which he posted back-to-back shutouts and three wins, Kraken goaltender Martin Jones was named NHL First Star of the Week. The summer free agent signee is third in the league for goalie wins with 21.
One standout highlight of Jones' week was a 3-0 victory in Boston. He made 27 saves, including 12 Grade-A scoring chances (per Natural Stat Trick) against a Bruins team that had not lost in regulation at home all season. Boston star David Pastrnak had scored seven goals in his three previous games (and another Saturday in a home win over Toronto), but Jones denied all five of Pastrnak's shots on goal, including a huge save on a breakaway attempt.

Jones shut out Montreal last Monday, stopping all 21 shots on goal with 11 attempts from high-danger areas. Jones finished the week with 8-5 victory over Chicago that included two late scores by the Blackhawks that Kraken coach Dave Hakstol attributed to his squad letting the goaltender down by allowing those high-quality opportunities.
The 33-year-old goaltender and new father posted a 3-0 record for the week with a .933 save percentage and 1.67 goals-against average.
