The Kraken made more trade news with a second move Sunday night. Forward Mason Appleton, selected from Winnipeg's roster at the expansion draft, has been traded back to his former team in exchange for the Jet's 2023 fourth rounder.
While GM Ron Francis has garnered five picks in the first two rounds of this summer's NHL Draft and another four in the top 64 for 2023's draft, he is beefing up 2024 as well. Seattle now has nine picks that summer (first round, second, two in the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and two in the seventh).

"Mason brought a hard-working effort to the rink and we want to thank him for his time with the Kraken," said Seattle GM Ron Francis.
Appleton, 26, has notched six goals and added 11 assists in 49 games with the Kraken. He notched the primary assist on linemate Yanni Gourde's game-winning goal in Seattle 4-2 comeback win at Climate Pledge Arena Saturday.
With Appleton moved to Winnipeg and Colin Blackwell traded to Toronto earlier Sunday, Gourde will be supplied new wingers for Tuesday's road game at Arizona.
