Without any further ado, LAKings.com presents, "We Got Our Guy" by Tony Gasparini. Day I Blog

We are very excited to have Thomas as a part of our organization. We think very highly of him, not only as a hockey player, but as a person. We think he is going to do the things necessary to help build our team.

He is an outstanding skater and a great puck mover and he adds a dimension to our blue line so we are very excited about having him as a part of our organization.

I think when you take a step back and look at the building of this team with some young prospects, you have to be excited about looking at a Jack Johnson and a Thomas Hickey as a nice corps. of 22 and younger players. We are very excited to have both of them in our plans on our blue line.

Lots of trades took place today and I think Mr. Lombardi was listening to all the people that were calling, but when it came down to it, we got our guy

His selection was a combination of the hard work of every single member of the Kings scouting staff and after much analysis, we all came to a mutual agreement that this was going to be our guy. He is the type of player that can help build the Los Angeles Kings into a Stanley Cup winner.

We were all smiling at the table when we got him. Speaking of smiling, we had a guest at our Draft Table this year, a young Kings fan who won a contest to be our Draft Runner.

He did a great job and he put Coach Crawford  through a heck of an interview before the draft…I mean he really had him sweating. I don’t think we are going to be able to take the smile off that young man's face.

Everyone is smiling today.
