AVS TO END: The Kings see the Colorado Avalanche tonight for the second time in as many games for their seventh and final preseason contest of the year. The Kings beat the Avalanche Thursday night in Colorado Springs 2-1 at the Broadmoor World Arena in a game that extended to a five-round shootout. Coming into tonight, the Kings hold a 5-0-1 preseason record, while the Avalanche have been struggling, trudging in with a 0-5-2 record.

FROZEN FURY XVI: Tonight marks the 16th season that the Kings have taken to Las Vegas to host a preseason matchup. The lockouts in 2004 and 2012 wiped out the annual event. The Kings have played a total of 17 preseason games in Las Vegas, extending the event to a two-game affair in 1998 and 2013. Overall, the Kings hold an 11-4-2 record in Las Vegas. Against the Avalanche at Frozen Fury (14 games), the Kings have an 8-4-2 record.

The Kings fell 3-2 to Colorado last season at the MGM Grand Garden Arena during Frozen Fury XV. Mike Richards provided both goals, each of them coming in the first period on a power play.

MARIAN’S MISSING: Marian Gaborik will be out of the lineup tonight, but is expected to be ready when the Kings open the regular season this coming Wednesday. Gaborik suffered a muscle injury earlier in training camp, and has only appeared in one preseason game, on September 22 against the Arizona Coyotes – in which he scored two goals.

WHO’S IN?: Tonight’s lineup will look as follows:
