Todd-McLellan-LA-Kings-Hockey-Central-at-Noon

LA Kings Head Coach Todd McLellan joined Sportsnet's Hockey Central at Noon to discuss what his life has been like since the COVID-19 outbreak and the pause in the NHL season.
"Life, for me, has probably been very similar to everybody else. It's been a bit of a shock initially," McLellan said. "A shock turned into reality. From that time on it's been a whirlwind of emotions. We're all obviously disappointed we're not playing, but also from a health perspective, I have older parents, my wife has older parents; we're certainly concerned about their health, as well as everybody else in the Kings world and the hockey world.
"It's been an interesting few weeks to say the least."

McLellan also shared what led to the Kings turnaround in the final weeks of play.
"It's a proud group of players, players that have won in the past, and they didn't want that mark on their reputation," McLellan said.
"The turnover in structure and systematic play was refreshing for the players. It was something new and excited an older player base. And the young players coming in are very receptive to it. It took a large chunk of our season to perfect it or at least get it to where it was effective."
The Kings coach also discussed his path to leading an NHL bench, working with Joe Thornton, if he foresaw Bruce Boudreau being a coach during their time together as players, if he foresees any of his players becoming coaches, if he's ever coached anyone like Drew Doughty before, and the toughness of his 1986-87 Saskatoon Blades squad.
