OILERS + FLAMES vs THE KINGS POINTS UPDATE:
LooKING Back:In a 3-2 shootout win
over the Colorado Avalanche, LA Kings rookie goaltender, Martin Jones, cemented his place in NHL history. And as per usual... no one on the internet was doubtful about Jones' achievement. Fine... there may be some discussion about the difference in era's that Martin Jones and Bob Froese played in... but at least there is no confusion over Martin Jones chasing the record for most consecutive wins to start a NHL career, right? RIGHT?!?
So it seems that Ray Emery actually holds the record for most consecutive winning "decisions" to start a NHL career... whatever the hell THAT means. But the worst part about Ray Emery's "record" is that it includes games he appeared in but didn't earn a decision spread out over 12 games played during the first 3 years of his career. How lame is this "record"?!? When Wayne Gretzky was setting his NHL record 51 game point-scoring streak... if he missed a game due to injury, the NHL would have counted the streak over. Yet Ray Emery starts 12 games over 3 seasons and all of sudden Martin Jones has to work harder to best Emery?
Hey Ray... it's your record, man.
Martin Jones will never start a NHL game again. It's cool.
Well, it looks like there is only one loser in this whole "consecutive decisions to start a NHL career" controversy...
Now that you mention it... no, no one has been talking about Fasth's 8-0 start last season.
WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE PAST GAME:
That's right, Sunday afternoon... Martin Jones joined Twitter. And just by posting one Tweet...
...he's already better at Twitter than Jake Muzzin.
But there is one huge hole in Martin Jones' social media game... as of this morning at 9:30am....
Martin Jones is NOT FOLLOWING Ben Scrivens on Twitter.
This is a National Tragedy.
So until Martin Jones decides to follow Ben Scrivens on Twitter... I can't take him seriously as a NHL goaltender.
LA TOURISM BOARD:
Many people picked the Dallas Stars to be near the bottom of the Western Conference this season. But with the play of Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn
, the Stars find themselves at the bottom of the Western Conference. (Ok, 5 points out of a playoff spot... but come on, it's the Western Conference!) Now for years, the Dallas Stars have been begging to leave the Pacific Division, citing
being unable to make the playoffs
travel disparity as the biggest reason to re-align. The Dallas Stars are now in the Central Division and it looks like they found the perfect time to leave the Pacific.
Is there anything more "Dallas Stars" than that?
Instead of complaining for so many years to be moved into a division that embraces the Central Time zone... the Dallas Stars might have made the biggest mistake in their franchise history by not demanding to be moved to the Eastern Conference.
The 2013-14 Eastern Conference, forever.
But even with the Dallas Stars moving Divisions this season... one thing has stayed consistent.
Their attendance is still awful.
