Kings Legend Luc Robitaille, Champion Figure Skater Randy Gardner, Mayor Herb Katz and others will celebrate the ICE at Santa Monica's Grand Opening Thursday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m.

The Bayside District (the management agency for Downtown Santa Monica) and Starbucks Coffee Company invite the community to join in the fun at the ICE at Santa Monica Community Grand Opening Event as Robitaille and Gardner will join Mayor Katz in welcoming visitors to the 2nd annual ICE at Santa Monica skating rink.

Gardner will serve as emcee, introducing speakers Mayor Katz, Ms. Rawson, Ms. Garner and Captain Shirley (on behalf of Santa Monica PAL). He will then call play-by-play for a special exhibition hockey shoot-out between Deputy Chief Sanchez and Robitaille.

The opening ceremony will conclude with entertainment provided by California Gold, a young group of local synchronized skaters who dazzle and sparkle with their special holiday inspired routine.

About ICE at Santa Monica:
Bring back childhood memories — or create new ones — as you slice through the ice in a festive atmosphere filled with holiday cheer and balmy ocean breezes. Located at 5th Street and Arizona Avenue, less than two blocks from the Third Street Promenade, the rink is open daily. The $10 admission includes skate rental. The rink is periodically cleared for short periods to groom the ice. If raining, the rink will remain open in light rain or drizzle conditions, closing only for heavy downpours.
