LA Kings new look makes team uniforms a best seller

By Max Donner / Special to

Would you like to have authentic Los Angeles Kings memorabilia at your holiday party or under your tree?

You can buy select team jerseys worn (and often torn) in high-speed competition on the ice from the Team LA Store at STAPLES Center.  These genuine relics of sports history cost between $500 and $1,500.  Each has its own history from the game, whether goals scored or dramatic defensive plays, and is truly one of a kind.

Of course, genuine player-worn LA Kings jerseys are large, extra-large and extra-extra large, just like the players.  You can check for the best size matches on the team roster, which lists player size and weight statistics.

Replica LA Kings Teams jerseys are available in all sizes, including youngster’s sizes. The newly designed LA Kings team white road jerseys have been selling briskly since they were introduced earlier this season.  The sales team at the Team LA Store has an in-store customization program so that the name and number selected can be affixed to the back of each jacket right at the store.
Many buyers choose their favorite player’s name, but it is also possible to choose the name of a friend, “Employee of the Month” or other worthy recipient.

The popular new “Away Game” black-bordered white hockey jerseys retail at $150, plus extra charges for name customization.  If you are on a budget, the practice jerseys cost less than $100, occasionally only $50 with special offers.  Facebook friends and Twitter followers can get special discounts.  Vintage purple and gold jerseys are also for sale and popular with fans attending Kings alumni events as well as sports history collectors.

The story behind the new LA Kings jerseys shows how sports strengths are helping Los Angeles achieve its goal of becoming the creative capital of the world.  The “chassis” of the team uniforms match NHL specifications, tailored by Reebok CCM.  All that the individual teams choose is the colors, designs and team insignia.

The current team insignia incorporates elements from the entire 40 year-plus history of the Los Angeles Kings team.  The design project was coordinated by Todd Howk of AEG Creative in Los Angeles.  That included rigorous broadcast testing to see how the team uniforms look on television and web casts in various stadium lighting conditions.  Input from players themselves, the NHL and conventional sports fan focus groups were all valuable in fine-tuning the final choices.
