LAKings.com caught up with Kings forward Wayne Simmonds to ask six questions about what he does during the offseason.
Simmonds, a 20-year old right wing, just finished his rookie season on the Kings after making his NHL debut on Oct. 11, 2008 at San Jose. The 6-2 native of Scarborough, Ont., finished the year with 132 hits to rank fourth amongst NHL rookies. Simmonds had 23 points in 2008-09 (9-14=23) after recording his first point (a goal) against Anaheim on Oct. 14, 2008, his third game.
LAKings.com: What was the first thing you did after the season ended?
Simmonds: The first thing I did after the season was take a break and relax.
LAKings.com: Where are you living during the summer?
Simmonds: Normally I live with my parents, but this summer I decided to get my own place in Toronto.
LAKings.com: How do you keep in shape during the offseason? Describe a typical workout.
Simmonds: I workout six days a week for most of the summer. Workouts vary from day to day, but if I were doing legs then it would consist of sets of squats, lunges, leg presses, and plyometrics work with some track workouts towards the beginning.
LAKings.com: What is your favorite summer activity?
Simmonds: I don't know if I really have a favorite, but I started golfing a bit and am enjoying it quite a bit.
LAKings.com: What was your favorite moment of the 2008-09 season?
Simmonds: I can't pick just one moment. I just think that my whole first year experience was unreal (Kings 2008-09 Schedule and Results).
LAKings.com: What are you most looking forward to for next season?
Simmonds: I am looking forward to most is seeing the improvement that our team has made during the offseason.
