Ryan Smyth to Be Honored Pre-Game Tomorrow Night

The Los Angeles Kings will honor left wing Ryan Smyth tomorrow, Thursday, before the Kings-Dallas Stars game in recognition of his 1,000th NHL game, which took place this past Saturday at STAPLES Center.

Smyth will particpate in a special on-ice, pre-game ceremony at STAPLES Center (game time is 7:30 p.m.) which will be broadcast on FS West.

The 1,000 game played plateau is an NHL milestone and Smyth was the 257th player in League history to play in 1,000 games. Smyth is also the 17th player to appear in his 1,000th NHL game in a Kings uniform. The other 16 include: Ralph Backstrom, Rob Blake, Doug Bodger, Kelly Buchberger, Russ Courtnall, Marcel Dionne, Ray Ferraro, Garry Galley, Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri, Bob Nevin, Sean O’Donnell, Bob Pulford, Luc Robitaille, Dave Taylor and Garry Unger.

The Kings (10-3-0), tied for the best record in the Western Conference, continue their five-game homestand tomorrow against the Stars at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on FS West, KTLK 1150 and along the Kings Radio Network. The homestand will conclude on Saturday against the New York Islanders on Saturday, Nov. 13 (7:30 p.m. start).
